This grant will support the enhancement of library services across the Shire, benefiting the communities of Berrigan, Finley, Barooga, and Tocumwal.
The Public Library Infrastructure Grants program, administered by the State Library of NSW, provides funding to assist councils in improving public library infrastructure, including buildings and information technology systems.
The program aims to extend and improve public library buildings, spaces, and information technology for NSW communities.
The grant will enable council to undertake significant improvements to its library infrastructure, ensuring that residents have access to modern, accessible, and well-equipped library facilities.
These enhancements will support the delivery of a wide range of services and programs that cater to the diverse needs of the community.
Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean expressed her gratitude for the funding.
“This grant will play a crucial role in enhancing the library services we offer to our residents, ensuring they have access to the resources and programs they need to thrive.
“We have a three-phase modernisation program for our libraries, and this grant will enable us to initiate phase one.
“The council extends its appreciation to the State Library of New South Wales for their continued support and looks forward to working collaboratively to implement the improvements that will benefit the Berrigan Shire community.”
