Twelve members from Thurgoona, Corowa, Finley, Tocumwal and Berrigan met up at Dee's Farmgate for morning tea and to shop Chanter Street.
Group member Julie Stava said the words of Cactus Country's John Hall rang true in her ears as she recalled his stories.
“He said why garden if you are not using social media?,” Julie said.
“He then went on to talk about how Cactus Country went from a little farm gate business dependant on zucchini and squash growing to survive to a booming major Victorian tourist attraction.
“He spoke about the use of social media, an influencer and the multiplier effect it had on Cactus Country, as well as where are they coming from and the floodgates were open to overseas visitors.”
Talk was of rain, water, mosquitoes and pot holes and what members have flowering in gardens now.
Riverina Plants and Gardening has over 33,000 members Australia wide.
Like many garden sites, members share beautiful pictures of flowers, landscapes and seasonal produce.
“Problems and solutions for pests and diseases, as well as plant identification, are shared,” Julie said.
“Meet and greets in members gardens are a great opportunity to share plants and cuttings and make new friendships.
“After a visit to the shops, members enjoyed a delicious lunch at Carter & Co and more chat about our next meet and greet as it is planned to have one in Tocumwal in the near future.”
