Part nature reserve, part birthday party and entirely spectacular — the Kyabram Fauna Park turned 50 at the weekend, with a two-day celebration that drew crowds from across the region.

Held on March 14 and 15, the event promised a wild time to celebrate the park’s five decades serving the Kyabram community — and it delivered in spectacular fashion.

Children were treated to an unforgettable birthday celebration featuring bouncing castles, colourful face painting and temporary tattoos, engaging keeper talks, and refreshing splash park adventures.

Attendees could also journey back in time at Hazelman’s Cottage, where dedicated Historical Society members, dressed in authentic period costumes, offered fascinating guided tours for history enthusiasts.

History took centre stage throughout the weekend and will remain permanently celebrated on the park’s grounds.

A commemorative wall was unveiled, showcasing the past 50 years through photographs and featuring Free Press newspaper clippings.

Visitors could also become part of the park’s ongoing story by adding their personal messages to a special commemorative board celebrating this milestone birthday.
