At the monthly meeting of the Finley Art Group held recently, it was decided to have an open day on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday.

The gallery will be open with a display of art the members have been working on for the last few years.
These items will be available to purchase, it is understood, at a very reasonable price.
The gallery will be open from 10am until late both days, allowing visitors to wander through at their own leisure.
Afternoon tea will be available at a cost of $6, so what better way to spend some time?
The proceeds will be used to purchase materials and supplies for presenters and art tutors engaged to help prospective artists improve their skills.
The art group is always appealing for new members and, who knows, there could be a lot of hidden talent in our community.
Everyone is welcome to go along, enjoy the friendly atmosphere and explore the world of art.

Alumuna residents were delighted to have been gifted some raised garden beds by the Finley MenShed recently.
The beds were a welcome addition to the Alumuna Community Garden known as ‘Hide Park’.
The residents have been enjoying planning, planting and sharing the vegetables and plans are already underway for the winter crops.
Alumuna staff and residents took the opportunity to thank the members of the Finley MenShed at a barbecue held last Friday.
Craig O’Donnell and Graham Fisher, representing the MenShed, assured the residents their organisation was most welcome to the garden beds constructed by Henry Robinson and Gavin Butcher.

Finley Public School captains Marlee Simpson and Amber Lawlor, together with Sasha Wood, were thrilled to receive a very generous donation from Finley MenShed president Gavin Butcher recently.
It is anticipated the funds will come in very handy for some of the P&C projects being planned.
Gavin would like to thank Finley IGA for assisting with the collection and recycling of cans, which is one of many activities making it possible for his group to give back to the community.

Local Murray Hut CWA members Cherilyn Taig and Julie Stava joined Cobram CWA members for their International Women’s Day luncheon Saturday, March 18 at the Cobram Soccer Club pavilion.
Special guest speaker was Kylee Donkin from Dutch Thunder native animal rescue at Koonoomoo.
Kylee spoke about the history of Dutch Thunder and the role it plays in the community with four dedicated volunteers.
Responding to calls, they assist injured and distressed native wildlife and are on call 24/7.
With the floods in spring 2022 and into 2023, Dutch Thunder has seen its busiest period ever.
Currently there are 30 native animals sharing the home of Kylee and James!
They include kangaroos, koalas, wombats, echidnas and even a rescued snake.
With the floods, they have seen an increase in wombats and echidnas needing collecting and relocating around Tocumwal.
As a volunteer organisation, they are dependent on grants and donations.
The community helps by making and providing pouches for orphaned young.
Native animals require special diet and donations of food such as rolled oats for custom made muesli and fruit and sweet potatoes.
Other items such as tissues, wipes, towels and balls of wool and fabrics - including polar fleece and wool blankets - are greatly appreciated. A basket for donations is located inside entrance of Ritchie's IGA in Cobram.
Cobram CWA members provided a tasty light lunch, raffles and continuous lucky numbers draw.
Cobram CWA president Helen spoke briefly about the role CWA has played in Victoria, as the organisation approaches its 100 year anniversary in five years.
Helen mentioned that NSW CWA celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 2022.
The CWA has made many achievements for women in Australia over that period of time - women supporting women, assisting those most vulnerable and in need.
CWA is involved in understanding issues impacting communities and advocating for change.
Inquiries about the local CWA can be made to Murray Hut CWA, which meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month in Finley.
The 24 hour helpline for Dutch Thunder Wildlife is 0417 560 910.

Election day in Finley saw the lovely ladies from Red Cross once again conducting a raffle to raise much needed funds.
Doug McLean was the lucky winner of the hamper, and the members of Red Cross would like to thank the community for its continuing support.
It was lovely to see the imitative of the Finley High School Year 10 students who also took advantage of those visiting the school to vote on Saturday.
They set up a sausage sizzle breakfast, with the help of Deb White and Jenny Philpot, to raise funds for their excursion to Wollongong at the end of the year.
Well done everyone.
