Freemasons announce donations for Rochester flood recovery

Support: Freemasons Foundation Victoria has announced that it will donate funds across different charities to help support the flood recovery in Rochester.

Freemasons Foundation Victoria has announced that it will donate $180,000 across different charities to help support the flood recovery in Rochester.

Alongside the grants, it will also donate 300 blankets that will be distributed to Rochester families living in caravans at the Elmore Field Day site.

Dungala Kaiela Foundation will receive $50,000 for emergency relief for First Nations families. FareShare and Rochester Community House will also receive $50,000 to help support Rochester families.

Rodney Lavin JP, chairman of Freemasons Foundation Victoria, said the foundation and Freemasons Victoria were committed to rebuilding Victorian communities hit by the floods.

“We have seen, first-hand, the devastating impact that these floods have had on so many Victorians,” he said.

“The grants are going to groups on the ground that are providing support to the people who need it most.”

John Glover, a senior Freemason from Echuca who has been assisting in the effort, said he had been helping the Freemasons Foundation to identify local initiatives to support.

“Our focus has been on finding projects that are having a direct and immediate impact on those who have been affected by the floods,” he said.

“Each of these community-led programs will use the grant funds in a way that will directly benefit flood victims and provide them with vital resources.”
