There is plenty for families to look forward to next weekend in Jerilderie, with two fantastic free community events on the calendar!
The Jerilderie Sports Club's annual Halloween Party is set for Saturday, October 31, promising an evening of spooky fun for children and families.
Trick-or-treating kicks off at 5pm, with maps of participating houses available for collection from the Sports Club.
Families can then make their way around town before returning to the club at 6.30pm for best-dressed prizes and Halloween-themed music.
All children participating in trick-or-treating must be accompanied by an adult, who will be responsible for collecting the map and registering children for the best-dressed competition.
The fun continues on Sunday, November 1, when the Jerilderie Fishing Club hosts its annual Kids Go Fishing Day at the Cape.
Running from 9am to 12pm, this popular free event is a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy a morning of fishing and outdoor fun. The morning will conclude with a barbecue and prizes.
For enquiries about the fishing day, please contact Steve Dagliesh on 0428 861 879.

Congratulations to local business Crittenden Heating and Cooling Pty Ltd, which has been recognised with an Environmental Stewardship Excellence Award from the National Environmental Protection Agency and the Australian Refrigeration Council.
The award recognises the business for achieving 100 per cent regulatory compliance with refrigerant trading authorisation requirements and its commitment to reducing emissions of environmentally harmful refrigerant gases.
Owner John Crittenden explained that the recognition followed a comprehensive compliance audit, assessing the business's handling of refrigerants, environmental practices and adherence to industry regulations.
The audit involved a detailed review of the business's operations, including a 14-page assessment to ensure all requirements were being met and appropriate measures were in place to prevent environmental harm.
John noted that passing the audit was a significant achievement, with many businesses reportedly failing to meet the required standards during their initial assessment.
Refrigeration businesses are subject to ongoing compliance requirements, with licences renewed every three years and businesses selected for random desktop or onsite audits.
It's wonderful to see a local Jerilderie business recognised for its professionalism, commitment to industry standards and responsible environmental practices. Congratulations to John and the team on this achievement!

Cricket season has officially kicked off in Jerilderie, with the B-grade side getting off to a winning start last Thursday in Finley, claiming their first victory of the season and securing the PATMAC rural summer cup perpetual trophy for 2026/27!
It’s been a hot minute since Jerilderie has held the trophy and it will spend the season gracing the tearooms at Monash Park.
The junior cricketers are also gearing up for their first matches, with the under-13s heading to Katamatite this Friday, while the under-11s and B-grade will take to the field at Monash Park on Saturday.
Be sure to get along and cheer on our local players!
For younger children keen to give cricket a go, Cricket Blasters is held each Wednesday at 4.30pm.
The program is designed for children aged 5-10 years and provides a fun, introductory experience to cricket while developing basic skills and confidence.
It's great to see another season underway, and I wish all our local cricketers the very best for the summer season ahead!
