Traditionally on this day we make and eat pancakes in preparation for the Lenten season, where we focus on Almsgiving (which is showing love and care for others), fasting (which is giving up something to show compassion for those who have less) and prayer (which is when we give thanks for all that Jesus did for us).
Our Mini Vinnies and Year 6 leaders prepared some fun events for the day to help raise money for CARITAS, a charity organisation that supports many around Australia and the world.
We organised some pancake challenges.
One involved flipping pancakes as many times as you could and the person with the most flips from each class received a prize.
We also had a pancake decorating competition where students were challenged to make the best-looking pancake.
Gold coin donations were collected to enter these challenges.
We received $189.30, which will be donated to CARITAS as part of our service to others.
Miss Braybon said: “We are so proud of our Year 6 leadership group!
“They were able to organise the event successfully through their great teamwork and cooperation.”
We are looking forward to many more events like this throughout the year.
