Ruth McRae OAM, Mayor – Serving as Mayor since the council’s formation in 2017, Ruth brings decades of local government experience, having previously served on the Jerilderie Shire Council from 2004. She contributes to a wide range of committees, from heritage and community events to regional planning and emergency management. Ruth’s leadership emphasises connecting communities, supporting local initiatives and fostering growth across the Murrumbidgee area.
“Leadership is about listening and empowering others. We’ve achieved so much, but there’s still more to be done, particularly in the water, health, housing, economic development and renewable energy spheres,” Cr McRae said.
Faith Bryce, Councillor – Elected in 2017 after serving on Jerilderie Shire Council from 2012, Faith is actively involved in community events, local arts and library programs, alongside initiatives like the Jerilderie Tidy Towns Committee. Her work reflects a commitment to fostering creativity, learning and engagement across her community.
“I love seeing our community come together and thrive,” Cr Bryce notes.
Christine Chirgwin, Councillor – Also elected in 2017, Christine has focused on community projects and recreational facilities, and more recently on the Toganmain Woolshed project, a key heritage initiative. Her committee involvement spans town development, Australia Day celebrations, sports precincts and library services. Through these efforts, Christine strengthens cultural and social connections in the region.
“Preserving our heritage while creating new opportunities is at the heart of my work,” she said.
Hayley Heath, Councillor – Elected in 2024, Hayley’s dedication to improving sporting facilities highlights her commitment to active lifestyles and community wellbeing. She contributes to committees overseeing town development, early learning and local facilities.
“Supporting programs that bring people together and keep them active is incredibly rewarding,” Hayley reflects.
Judy Saxvik, Councillor – Serving since 2021, Judy is committed to ensuring residents’ voices are heard and their needs addressed. Her committee work spans early learning, heritage, town planning, flood management and community grants, demonstrating her focus on balancing growth with preserving the local character.
“It’s important that every resident feels represented and valued,” Judy emphasised.
