Roadworks are being carried out on Murray St with only pedestrian traffic allowed.
However, this did not deter the enthusiastic volunteers. In fact, the opinion was that the roadworks attracted so much attention it was not a hindrance.
As well as generous residents and visitors purchasing tickets in the hope of winning the trailer load of wood, there are often many donations as well.
With this in mind, the club has recently decided when this happens that a ticket will be made out to ‘donation’.
Should this ticket be drawn out, the load of wood would be donated to someone in need.
This is exactly what happened last Saturday, and Finley St Vincent de Paul Society has attended to the allocation.
Once again, Finley Lions Club is constantly thinking of the community.

The current roadworks on the Newell Highway at Finley created a great deal of interest at the weekend, with many people stopping to take in the activity.
A notification letter was distributed to residents last week to inform them of the road surface and safety improvements to take place.
As well as resurfacing the road surface, the pedestrian crossing from near the Pinnuck St intersection will be relocated to 50m further north along Murray St to improve safety.
