The goal is to complete about 70km per day over the five days, with the group camping at night as they make their way from Bendigo to Creswick.
Eight students from Finley High School have accepted the challenge - Jordan Swann, Hamish Lucas, Emilee Sneddon, Lewy Petersen, Sophia Morgan and Max Haynes from Year 9 and Piper Kydd from Year 8.
Finley High teacher, Veronica McNaught, has been training with them and will accompany them on the GVBR.
A group of parents will also join the ride, including Matt Petersen who originally approached the school about creating this opportunity for FHS students.
He has since joined most of the training rides.
Steven Kydd, Jamie Haynes, and Lewy’s grandparents, David and Suesie Petersen are also going along for the ride.

The group has been riding on local roads on Wednesdays and Thursdays this term, from 11.30am.
The wind has been challenging, but they have completed rides of 15-40km, depending on whether they had one or two hours.
On Wednesday, November 4 they will have the school day to do a 70km ride as part of their preparation.
If you see them on our local roads, please give them an encouraging wave.
The Heart Foundation is the official charity partner of the 2026 TAC Great Vic Bike Ride.
Heart disease affects many Australians with one in six people in Australia self-reporting as living with cardiovascular disease, accounting for more than 4.5 million people, almost 18 per cent of the total Australian population.
Regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of heart disease and riding is a practical way to stay active, build fitness and support long term health.
For some of the attendees of this event, the ride is an annual catch up with 3000 of their friends.
For others, it is the first time they have ridden more than a few kilometres at once, let alone for days in a row.
Good luck to all FHS students and supporters on this amazing initiative.
