Ray Hehir, president-elect of Finley Rotary Club, said the club is also always looking to grow its volunteer base.
“We’re basically always looking for new Rotarians or members of Rotary, and also friends of Rotary.”
Becoming a Rotarian allows you to make a difference for your community, and is also a great socialising and networking group.
“If you’re a member, you can attend a meeting every Monday evening.
“Members don’t have to necessarily attend every meeting, but you can let us know your thoughts about things we can do in the community.”
“Friends of Rotary help with volunteer projects such as working bees and tidying car parks.
“They volunteer and help us when they can. It just depends on what we’re up to.”
Some of the “good deeds” Finley’s Rotarians have been involved in includes support of the Finley food bank.
“We’ve recently had some members of the Finley Rotary Club that have become Friends of Rotary and help run the food bank in town on Thursdays,” Mr Hehir said.
Mr Hehir said Finley Rotary Club has a long-standing tradition of looking out for and recognising community members who have been giving their time back to help others.
“We’re always looking for people who want to help.
“Also, each year, we present a Citizen of the Year and Volunteer of the Year award to people who have been volunteering in and around the community, which we have awarded for the last 50 years.
“Again, this year, we’re looking for people to nominate a volunteer for this award.”
