Finley had an intense start to the season against a very strong and dynamic Deniliquin side.
Finley has brought a few new faces into the side this year, which helped the young team win the first quarter of the game.
Unfortunately, the heat and fitness got the better of the A-grade side, and they trailed behind by 16 points by the last quarter.
It was a fantastic start to the season, and the A-graders look forward to the tough season ahead.

B-grade: 52 Rams def 39 Finley.
A strong first-round game for Finley B-grade on Friday to start their season.
After not fielding a B-grade side last year, they combined well for four quarters against a team that will be final contenders.
It was a hot, hard-fought game, with the Rams finishing on top; however, every one of the girls should be proud of their efforts.
The defence worked hard to get turnovers, with the attackers being able to capitalise on these opportunities.

C-grade: Finley 44 def Rams 41.
All team members worked to their maximum effort for the benefit of the team.
At times, we were down by as much as six goals, but the girls never gave up.
The new rolling-sub rule was a great benefit to our team and because we utilised it, it gave us the energy on the court throughout the game.

C-reserve: Finley 40 def Rams 36.
The first game of the season in scorching hot conditions was a great, hard-fought win by the new-look side.
All players played their roles and are beginning to show signs of what the team can do as they continue to develop at this early stage of the 2024 season.
With expert coaching from Peta Gowans, our four under-15 girls have transitioned to seniors and are showing so much growth and determination.
Congratulations to Lucy Mueller, Abbey Tanner, Remi Pyle and Piper Pyle on a fantastic senior debut.

Under-17s: Finley 35 def Rams 30.
Against a very strong Deni side and very hot conditions, nothing was going to stop these girls from fighting. And it showed, with our first win for the season.
What a fantastic start for the under-17s side, with strong defence and clean attacking plays across the court.
An amazing effort by all nine girls who left nothing in the tank.

Under-15s: Rams 43 def Finley 14.
While there was plenty of excitement for the season start, Finley’s under-15s team had a slow start in their game against Deniliquin.
Once settled in, the team worked hard, showing some strong passages of play, but were unable to overcome a stronger outfit.

Under-13s: Rams 17 def Finley 14.
Game day finally arrived, and the girls were pumped and ready to take on Deni.
They came out strong, and all played to their strengths. Rolling subs were made, and as it was all very new, they did a great job.
During the third and fourth quarters, the heat started to take its toll, and unfortunately, the girls went down by three.
Plenty to work on at training this week.

Under-11s: Not scored.
The U11s had a great first game and start to the season.
Against a tough Deni side, they worked hard as a team all game in the heat. They displayed some great passages of play and many turnovers in defence.
We can’t wait to see this team improve over the season.
