Students and staff and Finley High School supporters have been recognised for their commitment to education, through the annual NSW Public Education Week activities.

In a special assembly, awards were presented to those who have made a significant contribution to public education.
Four director awards were presented, in additional to long service awards.
Matt Whitty, Matt Tobin, Sally Marsden and Sarah Singleton were each presented with certificates celebrating 20 years’ service to public education.
Director award recipients were as follows:
Alex Hay - head teacher wellbeing: As the head teacher of wellbeing, Mr Hay is known for his caring and diligent leadership. He is often sought out by students for wellbeing support and guidance and leads a number of programs that support the wellbeing needs of all students.
Gaye Maxwell - school admin officer: Mrs Maxwell is an outstanding member of the team, and is known for her dedication and work in the hospitality faculty. She goes above and beyond to ensure the staff and students have everything prepared for the lesson, and clean up well at the conclusion.
Sasha Congram - school admin officer: Mrs Congram is an integral part of the school administrative team. Her support of parents, community, staff and students is exemplary, and her positive and supportive impact leaves a lasting impression on those that visit the school.
Roree Wallis - school captain: As the school captain and leader of the student representative council, Roree has made a significant difference to the running of the SRC. It has been one with a student voice and has had a greater impact on ensuring the students take ownership of their school and the decisions they make. Roree is also a role model to others, especially young males. He has made a concerted effort to ensure he is visible in the school leading by example, speaking to students and ensuring Finley High is a school that is respectful of all and responsible for the decisions made.

Principal Jeff Ward also highlighted past recipients of the director awards at the assembly, many of whom are making their mark across diverse industries like health, education, science, economics, and construction.
