Staff at the Country Club Hotel proudly wore the standout purple shirts saying ‘NO to domestic and family violence’ on Christmas Eve, and staff at Finley IGA followed up on New Year’s Eve.
IGA staff member Jacob Smith was particularly proud to be wearing his shirt when he gave assistance to Iris and John Reynolds in the supermarket on Wednesday.
The HALT education program is aimed at young people between the ages of 12 and 18, and Jacob is a classic example of the results.
Statistics show that domestic violence is more prevalent over the festive season.

The Finley Art Network has had an excellent 12 months, with three exhibitions which were all well patronised by the community and three successful raffles, all well supported by Finley and surrounding areas.
The final Christmas raffle that was one of the group’s biggest and best, was won by Trish Falconer.
The art network relies on these raffles and open days with the exhibitions to cover electricity, insurances and costs required to cover workshops, where teachers and demonstrators are employed to improve members’ basic art.
The group is having a break at the moment and will reconvene on January 17.
If anyone would like to have some time out, please feel free to speak to any of the members.
It is a very inexpensive group to belong to, and new members are most welcome at all times.
Opening times are Tuesday afternoons from 1.30pm and Saturdays from 10.30am at the gallery situated next to the courthouse in Denison St.

Finley Hospital Op Shop volunteers returned to duty on Monday and would like to advise there are some great bargains up for sale.
There is such a variety of products on hand including clothing for men, women and children; kitchen requirements, ornaments, books, DVDs, and many more so now is the time to call in and do some bargaining with the lovely volunteers.
