Echuca-Moama Theatre Company has stormed into the Georgy Awards with 23 nominations after a blockbuster year on the local stage.
Its daring production of The Rocky Horror Show has emerged as the company’s big awards contender, earning a record 18 nominations across virtually every aspect of the production, from performances and direction to choreography, costumes, lighting and set design.

EMTC’s younger performers and creatives are also firmly in the Georgy spotlight, with Frozen Jr collecting five nominations.
But the buzz is all Rocky, with the cult musical in the running for Best Musical, while director Tricia Deakin has been nominated for the Ken Kennedy Award for Achievement in Direction; and Achievement in Lighting Design.

Dennis Carter, who took on the iconic role of Frank-N-Furter, and Dillon Shelley, who played Brad, have both been nominated for Best Performance in a Musical.

Darcy Elliott (Riff Raff), Juliana de Quilettes (Columbia) and Tamara Cadd (Magenta) are up for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical.
Dennis, Darcy and Juliana have also been nominated in the Best Singing Performance category.

Gerard Oman picked up a Best Cameo Performance nomination for Dr Scott, while the production's Phantoms are in the running for the Georgy Award for Best Ensemble.
But when it comes to Rocky Horror there's something utterly fantastic and almost otherworldly.

Behind the scenes, Rocky Horror scored nominations for musical direction (Chris McDonald), choreography (Lisa Styles), set design (Tim Davey and Kevin Simpson), wardrobe (Tamara Cadd), and artistic design (Aaron David Palmer and Tamara Cadd - program design).
Tricia said taking on the much-loved cult musical for the first time as a community theatre production in the region had been an ambitious undertaking.

“Staging The Rocky Horror Show for the first time in this region as a community theatre production was always going to be a wild ride,” she said.
“What this cast and crew created went far beyond anything I could have hoped and dreamed of.”
She said the recognition was a testament to the enormous amount of work put in by the cast and crew.
“I’m incredibly proud of them all,” she said.
In the Frozen Jr five nominations, Darcy Elliott and Bec Kellett are nominated for Achievement in Direction in a Junior Production, while Molli Johns for Achievement in Choreography.
Tricia Deakin received another nomination for Achievement in Lighting Design in a Junior Show, and Elsa’s dress transformation is in the running for Excellence in Artistic Design.

Georgia Armstrong rounded out the Frozen Jr nominations with a Best Singing in a Junior Production nod for her performance as Elsa.
And EMTC will not be the only Echuca-Moama contingent with reason to celebrate on awards night.
Moama Anglican Grammar has secured three junior nominations for its production of Mary Poppins Jr.

Fiona Gibbs is nominated for Achievement in Vocal Direction, Danny Hindson for Excellence in Artistic Design for his screen projections and student William Sidauruk for Best Support Performance for his portrayal of Michael Banks.
The Georgy Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in community theatre across the Goulburn Valley.
Winners will be announced at the 53rd annual Georgy Awards in Shepparton on November 7.
