Leading the new citizens in making their pledge of allegiance to Australia was Berrigan Shire Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean.

The journey to becoming an Australian citizen includes making an application to the Department of Home Affairs, with eligible applicants then invited to sit a citizenship test.

Becoming an Australian citizen means making an ongoing commitment to Australia and its shared values.

“We were proud to welcome these members of our community as new Australian citizens,” a Berrigan Shire Council spokesperson said.

“We are so very proud of our diverse community and welcome all to experience and contribute to the Berrigan Shire.”
