Street Artist Damien Mitchell is once again adorning walls with historical paintings depicting the history of Finley, and at what better place than the Finley and District Historical Museum and Log Cabin precinct?

Other examples of Damien’s artistic abilities can be seen on the walls of Finley Bowling Club, Tuppal Hotel and Boomerang Motors, to name a few.
This talented artist is in the process of painting Finley’s main street highlights of buildings and other businesses that existed in the 1940/50/60s – all from a range of photos from the past.
At the time of going to press, Damien had extended 35 hours using 50 cans of spray paint, with several days still to come.
President of the museum committee, Chris Braybon, is thrilled with the result so far.
This will provide added attraction to the complex, which is steadily growing with displays of local history.
Another major project being undertaken by the Finley and District Historical Museum and Log Cabin is raising funds to acquire another archive building to store invaluable memorabilia from the RS Club, local historian Peter Hamilton and the McAllister family.
Grants are being sought and applied for and the committee would appreciate donations from any interested individuals or businesses.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Chris on 0427 848 989.
The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays 12.30pm-3.00pm or other times by calling (03) 5883 1374.
The wonderful volunteers are happy to accommodate individuals or groups at any time.
