The branch re-established in June 2025 and completed its transition to NSW in October 2025.
Since then, membership has grown to 46 women committed to supporting the Deniliquin community.
The branch’s first major community initiative, Kindness Kits, was launched in October.
Before Christmas, 35 complete kits were gifted to the local Department of Communities and Justice office to support children entering foster care.
Designed for children aged 0 to 16 years, each pack contains essential items as well as gifts, school supplies and clothing, helping provide comfort and dignity.
In addition to the kits, 10 large storage tubs were gifted filled to the brim with nappies, clothing, hygiene items and toys.
Through a sold out Christmas wreath making workshop, a successful Christmas raffle and strong community support, the branch raised $6939.66 with all funds directed to the Kindness Kits initiative.
CWA Deniliquin president Amelia Blight said the response from the community had been overwhelming.
“This initiative has highlighted just how generous our community is,” she said.
“The support we have received means vulnerable children in care will receive packs that are both practical and comforting.”
Hundreds of donated items were received from local community members.
A partnership with the Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee also ensured suitable gifts placed under the Giving Tree at Deniliquin Hospital were included in the packs.
Special acknowledgment has been given to SunRice, which donated $1000 and encouraged local staff to donate products, and to Kirsty’s Family Day Care, which selected Kindness Kits as its annual Christmas give back program.
This resulted in a substantial collection of donated goods.
“The level of community collaboration has been incredible,” Ms Blight said.
“Because of this support, the success of Kindness Kits will allow us to continue collating packs well into 2026, ensuring DCJ has resources available when they are needed.”
CWA Deniliquin’s committee includes Amelia Blight (president), Sarah Hooke (secretary), Melissa Jarratt (treasurer), and general committee members Johanna Murphy, Hayley Brown, Emily Fellows and Erica Singleton.
With Kindness Kits marking just the beginning, the committee says there are big plans ahead for 2026 as the branch continues to grow and deliver meaningful community initiatives.
