Community members and local businesses have been honoured with the presentation of the Tocumwal Rotary Club’s annual awards.

The award ceremony was held during the recent Rotary changeover dinner that was hosted in the Tocumwal Footy Club rooms.
Connor Thornton, an apprentice greenskeeper at the Tocumwal Golf & Bowls Club, was presented with the the Young Apprentice of the Year Award.
“I didn't know anything about the award, so I was shocked,” Mr Thornton told the Southern Riverina News.
“It was a huge honour to receive it.”
Mr Thornton began his work at the club four years ago, to pursue his interest in turf and groundskeeping.
Under the guidance of Ben Lucas, Mitch Pyle and other work colleagues, Mr Thornton has since become fully qualified with a Certificate III in Sport Turf Management.
He said he truly enjoys his job, and plans to stay for as long as he is useful.
Lliam Hall was the recipient of the ‘Keeper of the Til’ Award, presented in recognition for the “ongoing and selfless volunteer work he does as a cashier at the Tocumwal Rotary Op Shop”.
Aaron and Angela Vanderhoek, and the rest of the team at Vanderhoek Engerneering, were presented with the Rotary Club’s Business of the Year Award.
It was awarded in appreciation for the dedicated work the business does for the Tocumwal community.
This year’s Service Above Self Award went to Charlie Baldwin for his dedication to helping others through volunteer work and general community support.
