This year’s special week marked 175 years of public education in NSW, and the formation of the Board of National Education in 1848.
Finley High School took this year’s theme as an opportunity to acknowledge staff who have dedicated 30 or more years to the public education system.
Students and community members who have made a significant contribution to public education were also honoured at a special assembly Tuesday last week.
Staff members honoured for their service were: Veronica McNaught (46 years), Robyn O’Leary (37), Michelle Archinal (37), Michael O’Leary (36), Sally Marsden (36), Nicole Close (35), Aileen Begbie (34), Di Sexton (34) and Jacqui O’Bryan (34).
Four people received special director awards.
This included Year 11 student Claire Ingram, teacher Jenny Philpot, students support officer Jodi Brown and P&C president Paul Jones.
“These people received this award as recognition for their efforts in improving public education at Finley High School,” the school said.
