The popular Coly cafe has come on board as a stockist for your local newspaper.
That means you can now catch up on the regional news while enjoying your snack break or lunch.
“The main reason we’re stocking it is as a service to the community,” said Catherine Demamiel.
“It really came about because our Dad has always bought what he calls the ‘Jerilderie newspaper’.
“We didn’t want to see that disappear as an option.”
The Southern Riverina News has been a local news and sport source for 50 years, and expanded to incorporate the Murrumbidgee Council communities of Coleambally and Darlington Point after the closure of the Colembally Point Observer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Helping to provide relevant local news since then has been the council’s communications team, and your very own Carl Chirgwin as the ‘Coly Chatter’ columnist.
Mr Chirgwin is also the appointed scribe for both the Coleambally Cricket Club and Coleambally Football & Netball Club.
“It has the Coly section, which has been good since we lost our newspaper,” Catherine said.
“The SRN supports us, so we’d like to support them.”
The Coffee Nest started its role as a stockist last week, and it will be easy to get in your local news while enjoying the wide range of delicious items on offer.
“We’re open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. We have coffee, slices, cakes, muffins, focaccias, salads and fresh juices as well as a range of Christmas treats and specials on sale.
“Everything’s homemade, and we get lots of foot traffic.
“People can definitely come in to buy the newspaper, and have a read while having a coffee or something to eat.”
If you’re interested in coming on board as an SRN stockist, or would like to advertise your business, contact sales and office manager Sarah Bain on 5883 1033 or sarah.bain@southernriverinanews.com.au.
If you have a story you’d like to share, send your information to cchirgwin81@gmail.com by 6pm Sunday evenings.
