The OAM was awarded on Australia Day for nearly a lifetime of service to the community.
The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement.
The former Berrigan Shire councillor said he felt honoured and thankful to the people who nominated him.
“I just want to thank those people that thought me worthy of it,” Colin said.
“Thank you for believing in me and having realised what I've done in the past.”
Colin said that the award ceremony was a “terrific” experience, made better given he could share it with his son and two daughters.
He got to meet the Governor General several times over the course of the ceremony.
Congratulations once again, Col, on a well deserved award.
