This achievement will be celebrated when the school hosts its 130 years in education event, with activities to be held Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5.
Despite being a school holiday weekend, the school gates are set to be open from 10am on the Saturday.
The school will be open for visitors to have a look around the grounds, with slideshows to be running in most of the classrooms.
There will also be various other displays featuring much more recent material, created since the 100 years celebration in 1995.
Several notable people are expected to attend, including NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton.
From 11am the Finley Public School choir and Finley’s own Jade Camden are set to perform, reviving the now disused school song.
The official welcome, cake cutting and speeches will then take place from 2pm.
Principal Owen Gill will speak, as will assistant principal Cherilyn Taig.
The Odesi Coffee Van and Rub N Smoke will be providing refreshments.
The school will then say thanks to all the people who have come and close the gates at 4pm for the day.
The school will open again from 8.30am on the Sunday.
The Finley Public School P&C will be providing breakfast of egg and bacon rolls before final school tours and farewells, before the gates are closed at 11am.
Assistant principal Amanda Lyons said it’s expected many memories will be shared over the two days.
“It’s just a chance for past students, families and staff to come together and see how much has changed,” she said.
“Perhaps people can also reminisce with their old schoolmates.
“We were going to celebrate 125 years in 2020, but were unable to due to COVID.”
“If we don’t do it now, who knows? It’s a long time to 150 years.
“The Finley Rotaract reunion is also on during the long weekend. I don’t think it was by decision to coincide, but it may work nicely for people to attend both events.”
Entry to the 130 year celebrations at the Coree St school is free to all.
Organisers do ask anyone wishing to attend to register, to help with catering. Head over to the event on the Finley Public School Facebook page to give an indication.

Please note, however, that school holidays start at the end of the school day this Friday.
