One signing with AFL experience is Mark Whiley, who has returned home to Finley and the Murray Football Netball League after becoming a premiership player at Yarrawonga in 2023.
A Yarrawonga Pigeons head coach from 2020-2022, Whiley joined Yarrawonga in 2017 after a five year stint with the GWS Giants and playing nine games for Carlton.
He won Yarrawonga’s best and fairest in his first year.
He has been welcomed back to the Cattery with open arms.
“With work commitments seeing Mark return to Finley, the opportunity to return to his junior club and work with coach Jordan Taylor and the young group was exciting for him,” the club announced.
Moreover, there has been a range of new signings and re-commitments ahead of the Finley Cats senior football side’s round one twilight clash with the Deniliquin Rams Football Netball club on Good Friday.
Kayden Sharp, like Whiley, is another returning home for work who has been slotted into the team’s leadership group.
More returning players include Levi Middleton, after a few seasons away, and Cruz Nash, who played in Lavington’s Ovens and Murray under 18 premiership last season and is looking forward to starting his senior career at Finley.
Young guns and local lads committing to the Finley Football Netball Club and furthering their output in senior football are Roree Wallis, Harrison King and Lachy Hawkins.
The club’s senior football sides have had practice matches against Narrandera and Coolamon already this month, and the thirds and fourths had friendly games against Tocumwal last night to help shape up for the season.
