The men were arrested by Victorian Police after being involved in a collision at the corner of the Murray Valley and Goulburn Highways at Strathmerton Monday last week.
Murray River Police District Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown said the men were reportedly driving the car stolen from Lewis Crt, Finley when it crashed.
Further checks revealed the men were subject to outstanding arrest warrants, and that they may have been involved in the theft of jewellery from a Tocumwal business.
“Victorian Police contacted New South Wales Police, and also reported they had found jewellery in the car,” Det Chief Insp Brown said.
“The items were later identified as being missing from Tocumwal Antiques.
“The break-in at the business had occurred about 12.30am on July 7, where there were reports of two offenders.”
The men are aged 50 and 26, and both are from Queensland.
Det Chief Insp Brown said after Victoria laid their own charges for unrelated offences, NSW Police took action on the Finley car theft and Tocumwal break-in.
The men will be expected to appear in Finley Court on both charges, but an appearance date has not yet been confirmed.
