Local Government Week celebrates the important role local councils play in building strong, connected and vibrant communities and will be celebrated across NSW from August 3-9.
Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae OAM said this year’s art and photography competition celebrates local identity and community pride, inviting residents to share what they love most about the Murrumbidgee area.
"This competition is a fantastic opportunity for residents to showcase their creativity while sharing what makes our region special," Mayor McRae said.
The theme for the 2026 competition is ‘Something I love about our region’.
Residents are invited to submit an original artwork or photograph reflecting the people, places, landscapes, history, culture, events or experiences that make the Murrumbidgee Council area special.
The competition is open to residents who live within the Murrumbidgee Local Government Area and includes a range of age categories for both artwork and photography sections.
Prizes include gift cards ranging from $50 to $100, with one winner selected in each category.
Selected entries may also be featured in Murrumbidgee Council publications, community exhibitions, social media, tourism and visitor information materials and printed postcards.
Full competition details, entry requirements and terms and conditions are available on council's website. Entries close on Thursday, July 30.
