The total amount raised was $2400 and the organisers would like to express their sincere appreciation for the continued support given by the local communities.
The first prize of a full lamb was Maureen Bevan, with ‘Scottie’ and Carol Kennedy winning a side of lamb each for second and third prizes.
The sheep were donated by Will and Philly Robertson and kindly cut to order by Ashley Haynes Butchery.
The organisers would like to express their thanks and appreciation for their generosity and support.
Full credit must go to these wonderful volunteers. They work extremely hard to raise funds locally, which stay local to assist those going through the journey of cancer and their families.
Anyone needing support is encouraged to contact Pat Radford on 0411 140 234.

More than 100 women and a few brave men attended the Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation seminar held at the Finley RS Club last Thursday evening.
The presenter, Michael Jeh, gave a very moving account of the prevalence of domestic violence and especially that associated with the story of the murder of Hannah Clarke and her three children in Camp Hill, Queensland in February 2020.
Michael spoke of the hidden ‘red flags’ families and friends should look for when domestic violence is suspected of taking place.
He pointed out that domestic abuse isn’t always physical. There are several areas, such as coercive control which includes intimidation and threats to harm, punish or frighten the victim.
Coercive control is a criminal offence in NSW since July 1, 2024.
Another area Michael gave advice to those attending the seminar was not to push a family member or friend to leave an abusive situation before they are ready.
Assistance and a safety plan need to be in place to ensure a safe passage of leaving.
There is help available in most local communities and counsellors do visit Finley; however, if anyone is in immediate danger, call emergency Triple Zero (000).
For free counselling and referral services, which are available 24/7, call 1800 737732.
The NSW Domestic Violence help line 1800 656 463 is also available 24/7.
Further information can be found at www.service.nsw.gov.au/guide/domestic-and-family-violence.
After the seminar, president Sue Escott-Braybon presented Michael with a cheque for $1000 on behalf of Murray Hut CWA as a donation to the Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation.

It’s great to see the Finley Lions Club members back with the wood raffle on Saturday mornings.
They are always ready to have a chat and make everyone feel welcome.
Winner of the previous Saturday’s trailer load of wood was Sam Martin from Benalla, and Christine Murphy from Finley won last Saturday’s draw.

Those people in the community who left it until Saturday, May 3 to cast their vote in the Federal Government election were extremely generous in supporting the Australian Red Cross Finley Branch members who were, as always, at the Finley High School venue selling raffle tickets.
It has become a real tradition for this raffle to take place on voting days. The organisers would like to sincerely thank everyone for the continuing support.
The winner of the $100 IGA voucher was John Taylor.

Last Wednesday, Finley Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) met to discuss local health needs and issues.
At this meeting, LHAC welcomed Margaret Morunga, who is the newly appointed clinical nurse educator across Finley and Jerilderie hospitals.
Her appointment is a welcome addition to the staff at the hospitals, and our communities will benefit from her expertise in health matters.
