Bush fire efforts acknowledged

More members of the Berrigan Rural Fire Brigade have been acknowledged for their service in the 2019/2020 bush fires.

The brigade was recognised at a St Florian’s Day award ceremony in Dubbo in May, with only two members able to attend to receive the Commissioner’s Certificate of Commendation (Unit) on behalf of the Brigade.

The Berrigan Rural Fire Brigade invited all award recipients and their families to a barbecue and ceremony at the station last Wednesday to acknowledge all of the members involved with this award.

District manager, Inspector John Russell, attended the ceremony to present the awards to five of the members listed within the Commissioner’s Commendation.

Ten firefighters were recognised in total as part of the Commissioners Commendation to the Berrigan Rural Fire Brigade.

They were: Captain Jim Macartney, Senior Deputy Captain Greyd’n Davis, Deputy Captain Arthur Dempster, and firefighters Ron Jinks, Philip Selman, Tamara Graham, Ashley Batten, Lauren McAndrew, Daniel Sharp and David Woodward.

“Our local fire fighters go above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions and it is incredibly rewarding to see these fire fighters recognised for their hard work in the 2019/20 fire season” Inspector Russell said.
