Four generations of the family attended with John, son of Owen and his wife Helen, and the seven sons and two daughters of John and his wife Rose (dec), and their extended families.
The celebration was held at Jerilderie Sports Club on Sunday, July 6.
Owen Burke’s family farmed in Deniliquin and Tocumwal districts before Owen, as a young man, made the move to what was then Murray Hut, now Finley, where he was reportedly the first to use irrigation in the area.
Taking advantage of having the family all together for the occasion, two other milestones were also celebrated: the 50th birthday (August 9) of Catherine, who now lives in Perth with her husband and family.
And the 60th birthday (October 14) of Michael, who now lives in Finley at Alumina Village, having moved from the farm earlier this year.
Many stories were shared during the celebrations.
