The total to be recovered from the properties - most of which are held in estate - comes to about $186,179.
Sale proceeds after rates are recovered will be returned to the property owner.
The Local Government Act 1993 rules allow councils to sell land when rates have been unpaid for more than one year for vacant land, or more than five years for other land.
Seven of the properties have outstanding accounts of less than $10,000, but there are three which owe more than $30,000.
The properties are located across Coleambally, Darlington Point and Jerilderie.
Council has already recovered about $200,000 in unpaid rates since starting the process in February this year.
When initially put to council, there were 23 properties slated for sale.
Property owners were given time to either pay the outstanding amount in full, or arrange a payment plan with council to avoid having the property sold.
Those which still have outstanding charges will go to auction at Murrumbidgee Council’s Jerilderie offices on Tuesday, September 16 from 11am.
Elders Deniliquin has been commissioned to run the auction.
The Coleambally property to be auctioned is: 22 Bellbird St Coleambally Lot 150 DP 237703.
Darlington Point properties slated for auction are: Clark St Darlington Point Lot 5 Sec 2 DP 759030; Sturt Hwy Darlington Point Lots 6-7 Sec 9 DP 759030; Sturt Hwy Darlington Point Lot 8 Sec 9 DP 759030; Sturt Hwy Darlington Point Lot 10 Sec 9 DP 759030.
Jerilderie properties to be auctioned are: 5 McDougall St Jerilderie Lot 9 DP 2641; 86 Jerilderie St Jerilderie Lot 1 DP 1098861; 9 Kennedy St Jerilderie Lot 1 DP 107009; 68 Mahonga St Jerilderie Lot 2 DP 1144436; 82 Mahonga St Jerilderie Lots 1-2 DP 399918; Steeles Ln Jerilderie Lot 1 DP 661756; Broughshane Ln Jerilderie Lot 1 DP 652723; Steeles Ln Jerilderie Lot 1 DP 668706.
The council advises that no photographs, descriptions or additional information about the properties are available.
No access to the properties will be available before the auction.
All properties will be sold sight unseen, and prospective buyers must carry out their own due diligence.
Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae OAM said although this has ben a difficult decision, it is one council must make because “unpaid rates and charges are a heavy burden on both the council and all ratepayers”.
