Following the devastating bushfire which burnt out more than 1600 hectares of farmland at Goomalibee in late December, BlazeAid volunteers moved into the area to replace damaged boundary fences.
Lions Clubs from along the Murray River and Northeast Victoria were asked to provide assistance to the volunteers.
On the afternoon of Monday, January 12, six members of the Finley Lions Club travelled to the Goomalibee camp to provide the evening meal for more than 30 volunteers.
This was achieved with some assistance from the BlazeAid camp cook, who willingly shared the resources in her catering van.
As the camp will be operating until March, other Lions Clubs will have the opportunity to provide meals.
The Finley club may return to show off their culinary expertise!

The Finley Art Network members started the new year with a very special day last Saturday, doing a river scene with reflections under the guiding hand of Lea Toohey.
This proved to be a fun exercise for the members in attendance, who also took along something to be shared for a lovely lunch.
These get-togethers are a special way to experience lovely ‘self-time’, along with good conversation, and are extremely enjoyable.
The group meet in the hall next to the Finley Courthouse in Denison St, which has been made available by Berrigan Shire Council.
You can go along and try something new, and maybe even discover something you could love.
No talent is required, as experience can be achieved over time.
New members are always most welcome as are new ideas for activities.
The venue is open on Saturday mornings from 10.30am and Tuesday afternoons from 1.30pm.
The current exhibition is that of Gail Jolly. This will continue for another month or so, after which a Dru Morgan exhibition will be showcased for about two months.
Please feel free to call into the gallery, have a chat with the members and peruse the work of the very talented artists in our community.
