But before that happens, they will be making the most of their last days of ‘freedom’.
A number of local programs have provided some great entertainment for the young ones over the last two fortnights.
They could explore a love of music with the SOuth West Music Regional Conservatorium, or their creative side with a series of library holiday fun programs at the Edward River Library.
Another popular program these holidays has been the program at the Deniliquin Stadium, which incorporates sports and physical activity and learning about and enjoying delicious and nutritious meals.
Children have also been finding ways to fill in their holidays independently, with the Deniliquin Skate Park used consistently over the last two weeks.
When the Pastoral Times stopped by the Edward River Library on Wednesday, a group of about 15 children and their adult supervisors - mostly parents and grandparents - for some loom band fun.
Loom bands are small elastic circles which can be joined together to make items like bracelets, necklaces, other jewellery. With enough practice, you could construct almost anything from them.
Other activities explored through the library program have scratch/felt art and making crochet bookmarks and bracelets.
Children have also had access to the virtual reality headsets - which are always available at the library - and an all-day maker’s space.
The last two activities in the library program is the Splat! art program, which runs all day today and again tomorrow morning.
Splat! is open to people of all ages and painting experience.
The library provides the paint, all you have to supply is your imagination and to wear appropriate shoes and clothing.
An adult or carer must accompany children attending.
For more information about the sessions, you can call the library on 5898 3100 or email library@edwardriver.nsw.gov.au.
