Despite competing against the local football finals, the show’s attendance was fantastic.
During the official opening, Finley Show Society president Matt Mueller and show opener Geoff Bush bestowed the honour of life membership to two committee members.
Carol Kennedy has served 16 years as show secretary, and Paul Sexton had been a steward of the fleece section for over 40 years.
Showgoers enjoyed fun activities like cupcake decorating, friendly competitions and entertainment provided by Stewart Bryant whipcracking, Jade Camden and Skillzone.
“The show was once again a great success with incredible support across the board,” Mr Mueller said.
“We were thrilled with the amazing weather and the show results.
“I want to thank our sponsors and everyone who attended for such an amazing day.”
In addition to the life memberships, a number of other special awards were presented on show day.
Lady of the Day went to Joyce Brain and Father of the Day was Ash McDonell.
The pavilion was full of great entries, with the Joyce Yeo memorial Pavilion Award for Most Outstanding Exhibit going to Harry Haynes. Kitty Lawton was runner-up.
When it came to awarding the Hutcheon & Pearce Static Display awards, the award’s namesake won the commercial prize while the non-commercial award went to Gus Bradbury.
The Wynne Hawkins Memorial ‘Champion of Champions’ prize went to Closeup Poll Dorest & Suffolk Stud.
Georgia Lunn was announced as Finley Show’s 2023 Young Woman entrant.
And as always the junior showgoer competition was well contested.
