Happy first Father's Day

Jerilderie’s Brendan Lawton celebrated his first Father’s Day with son Cypress and wife Jacqui on Sunday. The 10 month-old Cypress John Lawton enjoyed spoiling his father with a present that was equally exciting for Brendan as it was for himself. The family enjoyed the morning at Lake Cargelligo with Cypress gifting his father the best present possible, a well behaved and enjoyable day.Brendan, who has been unable to visit his own father since the COVID-19 pandemic started, appreciated the time he spent with Cypress.‘‘It was just nice to be able to spend the day with my son as I was not able to see my dad due to COVID lockdowns,’’ he said.‘‘Our parents are in Melbourne and we haven’t seen them since April.’’‘‘Brendan is a chilled person so he was just happy to be with family, enjoy the day and not be at work,’’ Jacqui added.‘‘On Sunday, the morning was spent at Lake Cargelligo. We stayed in the caravan at the van park taking in the enjoyable sights followed by a trip back to Jerilderie for a barbecue dinner at home.‘‘Cypress gave dad a special book to read to him and a hand and foot painting which he did at Jerilderie Family Day Care.‘‘He was very well behaved as always and was happy with lots of laughs and smiles.‘‘Cypress also liked watching out the car window as we travelled back to Jerilderie.’’The first time parents have watched their son grow over the last 10 months despite the common difficulties that come with raising a newborn.‘‘It is very rewarding to see our precious little boy grow and learn news things every day,’’ Jacqui said.‘‘He has brought so much joy into our lives even though some days and nights have been long, spent awake feeding him.‘‘He is turning into a little character with so much personality. He sure is a joy every single day.’’
