Entrants will go through an extensive interview process on the Saturday at the Finley RS Club, which will be key in deciding the winners.
‘‘The three judges will be given a set of questions to test the character, knowledge and passion of each contestant,’’ show society secretary Carol Kennedy said.
‘‘This will be hosted in the morning before a break for a group lunch, where the girls will have an opportunity to meet each other, before judges resume interviews in the afternoon.
‘‘Everyone will gather for an awards dinner at 6pm which is when the winning showgirls are announced.
‘‘These three ladies will then go to Sydney to compete at the next stage.’’
To assist, the Community Bank donated $1250 of their annual marketing pool towards the competition.
‘‘The funding will enable us to properly run the final and uphold the prestige of the event,’’ show society member and 2018 Finley Showgirl Maicie Close said.
It will be the second time Finley has hosted the event recently — which is held throughout the region on a rostered basis — and is expected to give Finley a much-needed economic boost.
‘‘It is an important event amongst the show societies, so it is an honour to host the 2020 competition,’’ Mrs Kennedy said.
‘‘We are expecting the event to draw in about 200 friends and family from across the Southern Riverina, and representatives from further afield who will all be using our local services and exploring what Finley has to offer.
‘‘We hope to see our own showgirl do well and we wish the best of luck to all contestants.’’
Finley’s showgirl is Georgia Webb and Berrigan’s entrant is Chantelle Gorman.
