The 37-year-old faced the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday after fire engulfed a two-storey home in Chadstone, in the city's southeast, on May 21.
She and two girls, aged seven and eight at the time, were taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The Chadstone woman was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of attempted murder.
The court heard it was her first time in custody and she did not apply for bail.
Her lawyer revealed the woman suffered an injury to her finger and her throat.
The blaze ripped through the roof of the two-storey townhouse. Bedrooms and an ensuite were destroyed, while part of the home's structure collapsed.
At the time of the fire, Victoria Police alleged a gas cylinder exploded inside the house.
Fire crews found the woman and girls unconscious in an upstairs bedroom and carried them out of the smoke-filled home, which Fire Rescue Victoria Commander Paul Eckholdt described as a "difficult rescue".
A fourth occupant, a 36-year-old man, was not present at the time of the fire.
The woman will next face court on November 21.
