The free, short business course will run at Tatura SmartFarm at the end of May and in mid-June.
Agriculture Victoria’s Goulburn Murray Horticulture Farm Business Resilience Program is supporting growers to build on their knowledge and skills to strengthen their farm business and be better equipped to manage the risks associated with a variable climate.
Agriculture Victoria horticulture program coordinator Andy Clark said specialists will present on Wednesday and Thursday, May 29 and 30 on topics including identifying and managing risks, strategic planning and setting business goals, managing people on farm, succession planning and farm safety. Onsite biosecurity planning will also feature.
“Following on from this, on Wednesday and Thursday, June 12 and 13, session topics will include climate risk and natural resource management, cost of production, financial management, budgeting and profitable decision making,” Mr Clark said.
“These sessions will focus on building on and strengthening your business productivity, rather than on individual business information, for example individual finances.
“The course includes an in-depth workbook and a one-on-one online pre-course briefing and follow-up session with a course facilitator.”
Each session will start at 1pm and run for about four hours, with food and refreshments provided.
