Fluffy: Cyndi Gleeson sent in this photo of Atticus, who she says is demanding, sheds enough hair that she could crochet another cat with it and is fussy about what he eats. “Lucky for him he is cute and we love him,” she said.
If you ask any cat, they will tell you they are superior to other animals — and probably also their human owners.

So it seems fitting that there is a day dedicated to celebrating all things feline.
International Day of the Cat on Monday, August 8 saw the furry pets celebrated for everything we love about them.
The News put out the call on Facebook on Monday for people to post photos of their cats, and our readers did not disappoint.
We had multitudes of photos sent in of much-loved pets.
Here is just a selection of them.
Little cutie: This is Poppy. Her owner Tracy Watts says Poppy is a smoochy, cheeky and loving little girl.
Rub my belly: This is Ruby who was rescued by Belinda Philips in January. She is a big smooch, who loves her kisses and cuddles.
Hanging out: Nine-month-old Louie, aka Lewis, loves hanging out in owner Carla Telford’s beauty room snuggling up to her clients.
Sleep time: Kim Lago’s cat Peaches is the king of the house and very spoilt.
Snuggle time: Romola Hopman’s rescue siblings Bear and Simi like nothing better than to curl up in her bed together on cold nights.
Comfy: Sharon Carey adopted Amie from Shepparton Animal Rescue and Rehoming in January 2018 after she was surrendered while pregnant when she was nine months old.
Model pose: Shadow was a rescue kitten, adopted by Tasmin Wiley and her family. Tasmin says from day one he has fit perfectly into her family and follows her everywhere like her little shadow.
Relaxed: Sienna is Ingrid Turner’s constant companion.
Vocal: Simone Campbell’s cat Mojo rules the house, and while he is eight years old he plays like he is still a kitten.
Hard worker: Anne George’s cat Smokey has only one eye, due to a run-in with a feral cat, but he still catches mice around hay bales, then goes inside to relax for the night.
Tree of knowledge: Simon D’Elia sent in this photo of (top to bottom) Maggie, Maisy and Sesame.
Nothing spooky: Imogen Potter adopted Violet on Friday the 13th of August last year. She’s an energetic kitty that loves chasing her human siblings and than snuggling up to them at night.
Sweet: Tilly Liversidge's eight-year-old cat Sammy is a real smooch. Sammy has been nick-named 'The Million Dollar Cat' after lots of veterinary issues.
Nosy neighbour: Liz Fuller sent us this photo of her daughter Samantha's cat Pudding (Puds), which she was given for her seventh birthday 10 years ago. Liz said Puds is inquisitive from a distance, but anything close scares him, including his own shadow.
