When Matt identified a gap in the market, with only one tyre shop in Corowa, he decided it was time to give locals a second option.
Together with his wife Carol, their three kids Layne, Tex and Hudson, and the crew of Nev, Wal and Warren, Matt opened his Tyres and More branded workshop last month to bring that second option to town and provide some much-needed competition.
“A one tyre town needs competition,” Matt said.
“I've been going out of town to get my tyres, so we've come here to create some competition and get prices back down, and we’re achieving that.
“We've got a huge following in agriculture and transport, which is showing now with support from the local agriculture and transport companies.
“We're very competitive with our pricing; we've got lots of options to choose from, and trading under the Tyres and More banner gives us strong buying power.”
Matt said they were looking to expand and push the passenger and four-wheel-drive market, as well as offering a call-out service.
A tray truck enables them to go out to farms for tractor and header repairs, and they can also attend emergency call-outs.
Carol said that, being a local family-owned business, they’re committed to giving back to the community through events like Cruise Nights and local sports club sponsorship.
“We've got three kids who go to school here,” she said.
“All our employees live here and went to school here, so we want to make sure the town survives.
“Investing back into the town and back into local business is important to us.”
