The toss for the Strikers' opening game of the tournament has been delayed with rain continuing to fall at Adelaide Oval.
Play was due to start at 6.45pm local time (7.15pm AEDT) but that prospect is remote, with rain forecast to continue through the night.
The city of Adelaide has recorded more than 30mm of rain in the past 30 hours - more than the monthly average for December.
Umpires have until 8.50pm ACDT (9.20pm AEDT) to start play, with a minimum of five overs a side constituting a game.
While the Strikers have yet to play this campaign, the Heat notched a franchise-record 103-run win over the Melbourne Stars in the tournament-opener last Thursday night.
