After a tight first half, with scores level at the main break, the Demons were handed a 26 point loss by Katamatite in round 14 of the Picola & District League.
The result sees Jerilderie sitting ninth on the ladder, one win behind eighth placed Yarroweyah and having only three games left before a bye in the final round.
Final score, Katamatite 9.10 (64) to Jerilderie 6.2 (38).
From the first bounce both teams were desperate for the ball and Jerilderie led by four points going into the second quarter.
For the first half, it was a very even contest, with both teams pushing to maintain possession of the ball.
Jordan Anthony was exciting up forward, slotting two goals, while James McRae showcased his defensive pressure and Cameron McFayden attacked hard and drove the ball forward at every opportunity, helping the Dees stay level with the Tigers in the first half.
The third term saw the Dees starting to slip, as Katamatite’s pressure started to build up with multiple entries into their forward half allowing them to gain a handy 12 point lead at three quarter time.
Unfortunately the Demons couldn’t fight back against the Tigers, going scoreless in the last quarter.
It wasn’t all negative for the Demons, who showed glimpses of good passages of play throughout the day.

Jerilderie’s reserves picked up their third win of the season, beating the Tigers by 19 points in a low-scoring affair.
The Demons started the day well, but unfortunately didn’t utilise their opportunities in the first quarter, only kicking 1.4 for the term.
It was a tight second quarter with Katamatite managing to score one goal in the quarter to the Dees 1.2, with just 10 points between them at the main break.
The second half was much the same until Fergus O’Sullivan dominated in the ruck and managed to score a goal himself, displaying how dangerous he can be.
David Hercus secured three goals to ensure the Demons got over the line in a courageous win.

Despite being slightly undermanned, Jerilderie’s thirds proved far too strong for Katamatite in a 124 point drubbing.
The Dees started extremely well, kicking seven unanswered goals in the first quarter, led by young guns Zander Nash and Ben Neessen.
The second quarter saw other Demons stand up and get involved around the ground with Ollie Knight and Max Cameron getting their hands on the footy.
The second half saw Jerilderie run away with the game, with Tom Munn playing one of his best games this year, kicking four goals.
The strong performance means they are just one win away from securing a spot in finals.
