Finley’s A grade claimed a crucial 14 goal win over Barooga at Finley Apex Sports and Community Centre on Saturday.

The Cats came out with high intensity and with their attack on the ball excellent throughout the Murray League round nine clash.
Shania Bentley played a fantastic game in goals, shooting well and rebounding strongly.
Holly Robinson was outstanding in WD, then stepped up and played a cracking game in centre.
Unfortunately Finley lost Maicie Close to a knee injury halfway through the second quarter, but they managed to regroup and finish the game strongly.
Congratulations to Wynta Brain for stepping up and playing her first A grade game and to Nicola Denny for stepping in when the side lost Close.

It was a tough day at the office for the B grade Cats, who started strong but fell away in the second half.
Finley’s defensive pressure was excellent, but they struggled to convert their opportunities.
Nicola Denny was a workhorse in centre, ably helped by Sharni Sykes at WA.

Finley’s C grade team came out firing leading by six into the first change.
Karen Donkin was on fire again as was her shooting partner Jess Congram.
Defenders Bridget Tegart and Kylie McLean were relentless causing turnovers and applying pressure to Barooga’s shooters.
Kirsty Clarke ran hard in the centre again connecting the defence and attack with her passing and drive through the centre.
Wing players Abbey Breust, Vanessa Geeves, Kaylee Lonsdale and Tanea Bower were great in both attack and defence.
Going into the last quarter Finley had a nine goal lead but started to run out of puff, but the Cats fought it out until the end under fairly warm conditions

A magnificent team effort saw the Under 17s Cats come away with their first win of the season, scoring a three goal victory against sixth place Barooga.
The Cats stepped up to the challenge and maintained their tight defence, strong leads and positivity over four quarters.
Sarah Orro and Micaelie Price combined beautifully in goals, passing in and out of the circle, using their angles to gain a better position to shoot from.
Micaelie also gained numerous intercepts which allowed Finley another chance at goal.
Piper Doyle did an amazing job when she switched ends this week and talked it up in the defensive circle with the ever consistent Bella Kelly.
Both girls did a fantastic job sticking tight, rebounding and getting plenty of taps and deflections.
Speedy mid courters Elle Rochford, Sarah Haynes, Niamh Mason and Shianne Mason provided great drive and a link from the defence end to the attack end.
They led strongly, defended tightly all game and used what the team has been working on at training and applied this in a game situation which was great to see.
Final score, Finley 31 to Barooga 28.
It was without a doubt the best game this season for the U15s Cats, despite an eight goal loss.
The 1-8 Finley side came up against a strong team but they were competitive for four quarters and made a fifth placed Barooga work hard for the win.
Cassidy Reynolds was solid in centre for the entire game putting pressure on every pass and getting a lot of intercepts while Mackenzie Hannan was great in goals as well as her strength through the mid court.
Final score, Barooga 31 to Finley 23.

The U13s played a great game on Saturday defeating Barooga by 16 goals.
The young side displayed amazing teamwork with Sarah Bauer playing a fantastic game reaching for every rebound and chasing every loose ball.
Josie Coombs shot amazingly well in goals and was relentless throughout the centre court and the goal third.
Final score, Finley 42 to Barooga 26.

The U11s Kittens had a tough day on the court against a well drilled Barooga.
To Finley’s credit they never gave up and fought it out until the end.
Matilda Kelly had a blinder at WD and continued her form into the centre while Paige Gray went from shooter to defender and was up against some pretty tough opposition but never gave up.
