With a small amount of support, many local people choose to live happily at home for many years past their retirement.
But at times it can be hard to understand what support services are available, how much the support may cost, and knowing where to start.
Intereach staff are friendly, well-trained and available to help explain the support that is available and the steps involved in getting started. Staff take the time to understand a person’s life situation and provide the information and support to assist a person to link in with the relevant services that are required.
Some of the services available are respite care when your carer needs a break, personal care such as help getting dressed, transport to social events or medical appointments, modifications to your home such as handrails or ramps, meals or household jobs such as cleaning or gardening, access to social groups as well as providing access to equipment like walking frames.
Intereach staff can also provide support to access My Aged Care, along with the process of becoming registered and assessed if required.
All support is flexible, affordable and designed to suit the lifestyle of the person aged over 65.
Intereach CEO Keryn Fox said it’s so important for older people in the southern Riverina to stay living in their own home and independent for as long as they want.
‘‘Intereach provides the support that helps them stay safe at home and involved in the local community.’’
A long-established local organisation, Intereach has been working in the region since 1973 and is a not-for-profit community-based provider of services to regional, rural and remote communities.
The organisation now has 15 offices across NSW and Victoria - including an office in Finley - and more than 350 staff.
The Finley Intereach office is located at 1/144 Murray St (Newell Hwy). The Intereach Community Support team can be contacted on 1300 488 226.
