Club member and swap meet coordinator Eric Finch said the annual event — held at the Tocumwal Football Netball grounds — saw attendance increase by at least 100 people, with 900 estimated to have enjoyed it on Sunday.
‘‘It is a lot more than last year so we are really happy with that,’’ Mr Finch said.
‘‘The event started off really slowly and I know myself and probably others were not happy because we had put a lot of hard work into it, but by 10am we had a great stream of people coming in.
‘‘I am very happy with the turnout, and I think people really enjoyed themselves as much as club members did on the day.’’
Mr Finch said with the inclement weather holding off until 2pm, the wide range of vehicles had a chance to shine.
‘‘We had about 100 entries which included about 80 cars, three trucks and 10 motorbikes but we also had a lot more cars that didn’t officially enter.
‘‘People were pretty happy to just drive in and show their cars, which added to the great atmosphere. There were also about 45 site holders.
‘‘There was a very good range of vehicles and we really had great weather, which held out for us until the afternoon.’’
The event is one of two major fundraisers for the club, with the other being the Murray River Rod Run.
‘‘We have not yet decided exactly what the funds will be used for this year, but they will go to improving the club,’’ Mr Finch said.
‘‘Every year the event gets a little bit better and the numbers grow a little bit more. I really think it gets better as it grows and it is something we are proud to put on.’’
