Jerilderie netball report

A grade: Jerilderie 34 def. by Toc. 62.

The Demons put in a great effort against top of the ladder Tocumwal.

Defensive end was on par, creating pressure through the circle.

SD Landscaping award went to Kendall Purcell.

Elise Watson did not miss a beat as WD earning her the Colony Inn award.

The midcourt was strong and effective, with great passages of play down the court.

New in the circle this week was Belle Bradford, playing a strong and consistent game earning her the Wunnamurra BOC.

Tanya Rorato played another strong, consistent and thoughtful game, seeing her receive the Jerilderie Sports Club award.

B grade: Jerilderie 38 def. by Toc. 47.

The Jerilderie girls put in 100 per cent, taking the lead at different stages throughout the game.

They fought to the end but unfortunately were down at the final whistle.

Awards: Bonshaw BOC - Issy Catena; Barlow Ag - Brooke Mitchell for fabulous defence work; Colony Inn - Sara Smith for reading the play well and covering her opponent; and Jerilderie Sports Club - Heidi Bryce for always making herself available.

C grade: Jerilderie 41 def. by Toc. 43.

Jerilderie have a lot of work to do if they want a chance at making finals, and a full four quarter effort will be needed each game.

Tanya and Sally were strong in defence, and consistent as ever Loretta was the ‘go to’ girl in the midcourt.

The Toc. defence was strong and put a lot of pressure on the shooters making passes into the circle difficult.

Awards: Lawton Ag Spraying - Tanya Bradford, JNC - Loretta Walker, Colony Inn - Sally Simpson, Jerilderie Sports Club - Carina Rorato, Jerilderie Hotel pot and parmy - Eden Hercus.

Under 17s: Jerilderie 49 def. Toc. 28.

It was a tough start against Tocumwal this week with no bench.

All seven girls had a great game, with best on court going to Pheobe Aitken in WD. She proved she can play anywhere on the court and will always give her all.

Anna Pinnuck was awarded the Colony Inn award for a great effort in GK with her defensive pressure, and Lauren Knight was awarded for stepping up and putting the defensive pressure on even though playing as goal attack.

Special mention to David Leeds for sharing his expertise at training with the girls.

Under 13s: Jerilderie 21 def. Toc. 16.

A great team effort by the girls against Toc. this week.

Sophie was strong under the post, Mia and Brigit were both using the circle to their advantage and passing into Lucy and Sophie with confidence.

The Patu sisters are forming a great defensive combination together, and with Tamzin and Emma putting pressure on the Toc. attack they picked up a lot of turnovers.

The movement down through the midcourt was much improved on the last game and the work the girls are putting in at training showed this week.

Awards: Pine Rise Pumps - Sophie Roe, Colony Inn - Brigit Hamilton, Jerilderie Newsagency - Mia Neessen, Players’ Choice Colony Inn - Alex Patu.

Under 11s: The little Dees did a great job on the weekend.

The girls are working well through the court; passing, moving and defending strongly.

Abbey played a great game earning her the Makatak award, Chelsea moved strongly and positioned confidently earning her the Jerilderie Bakery, and Miley had another great game earning her the Colony Inn award.
