A wonderful effort by the community saw just over $20,000 donated to the Good Friday Appeal after a fundraiser held by the Jerilderie Sports Club last month.

A total of 184 golfers and 54 bowlers enjoyed perfect weather to participate in another successful annual Good Friday Appeal fundraiser.

Golfers and bowlers travelled from far and wide, many returning year after year for a fun filled day with all entry fees as well as on course refreshment sales donated to the appeal.

Sports Club chairman Colin Bryce said he was pleased with the community’s generosity.

‘‘It was a fantastic day and to get such tremendous support was a credit to not just the local but the Australian community,’’ he said.

‘‘We believe it’s the most funds we have raised for the charity so it was a massive success.

‘‘We all know someone who has had to use the services of the Royal Children’s Hospital so it’s a worthy cause.

‘‘The raffle and auction held on the day were once again keenly patronised.’’

The club would like to send special thanks to the businesses who donated prizes and to the Jerilderie Apex and Lions Clubs for their continued support.
