A-grade had a positive start at the weekend, despite some changes within the team.
The girls are continuing to develop their court combinations and Saturday was a huge confidence booster with the side achieving their highest score this season.
Mid court was directed well with the Coach’s Award going to Sienna Jenkins.
Montana Jones remained consistent in defence earning herself the Timbrr Firewood Award.
Hayley Denny came on with strength and accuracy in the second half to earn herself the Globe Hotel Award.
B-grade: Deni Rovers 35 def by Strathmerton 37.
This week the Rovers B-grade side were beaten by a more determined Strathy team.
Even though Britt Kirby was unable to take the court due to illness, and Simone Lumbar was injured in the first 30 seconds, the girls adapted quickly to the positional changes.
It was a very physical match up for most of the game but in the end, Strathy’s tall defence proved to be the difference and the Roos went down by two.
All credit to Carissa Bulmer who injured her hamstring before half time but fought on valiantly.

C-grade: Deni Rovers 72 def Strathmerton 21.
It was a tough game for the girls, with Elly Blake injured early in the second half.
The side was able to recover well and finish off with a strong win.
We hope Elly has a quick recovery.

C-reserve: Deni Rovers 48 def Strathmerton 36.
Another win for the girls because of strong clean passages down the court.
Accurate shooting and strong defensive pressure throughout the court allowed the girls to push out the lead.
The side are settling in and continuing to play their own game, showing improvements each week.

Under-17s: Deni Rovers 66 def Strathmerton 10.
The Rovers under-17s side finished on top in a fast-paced game against Strathy.
The girls settled well after quarter time using their skills to their advantage.
Plenty of encouragement and voice from all kept morale high.
Consistent defensive pressure all over the court created many turnovers and allowed our shooters, who worked in sync, to convert goals.

Under-15s: Deni Rovers 30 def Strathmerton 8.
Saturday was another convincing win for this side.
After a cold and slow start they hit their straps in the second quarter.
Special mention to Reagan Behsman and Paige Brown who worked together and prevented the opposition from scoring in the second quarter.
Hazel Glowrey provided many turnovers and fed the shooters beautifully.
The hard work of the shooters paid off as they capitalised from the turnovers.

Under-13s: Deni Rovers 31 def Strathmerton 9.
The under-13s were nervous going into a top of the ladder clash against Strathy on Saturday. But they used their nerves to their advantage and came out firing.
The attacking end with Sienna Elphick in C and Amelie Bulmer in WA moved the ball well into the shooters, Bae Willis and Ruby Cowley.
The team ended the first quarter with a huge 14 to two goal lead.
The next three quarters saw the girls settle into the game.
The defence worked hard with Isabel Macknight and Zarly Horne applying strong pressure and Emily and Amy Holloway keeping their opponents to single digits.

The Rovers under-11s started off with momentum that continued throughout the game.
Stand out shooting accuracy from Eva Maher who sunk some long bombs.
Coach Lucy Horne said the team is combining well at both ends of the court, with smooth passages of play through the centre also.
