There are currently three sides equal on points for eighth position, while fifth, sixth and seventh place are all just four points ahead.
This sets up another fascinating weekend of matches and Katunga’s away game against Rennie will go some way in deciding the top eight.
The Swans will travel to Rennie on Saturday afternoon to take on a Hoppers side that has surprised many this year.
Currently in sixth position, Rennie suffered a heart-breaking one-goal defeat to Picola United and will be hungry to return to the winners’ list this weekend.
The Swans, currently sitting in eighth position, also showed plenty of promising signs last time out, falling to the table-topping Waaia by six goals.
Katunga team manager Danielle Henderson said her side was unsure what to expect from Rennie.
“They’re obviously playing really good netball and they’ve had some really nice wins,” Henderson said.
“I think they’ll be a team where you just have to stick to your own game plan and not worry about them, I feel like they will be quite unpredictable and, being young, playing with not much to lose I guess.”
Henderson explained that the side would be without Hayley McDonald this weekend, with McDonald picking up an injury against Waaia.
“The injury to Hayley put a bit of a downer on things but we’re trying to keep upbeat, stay positive and make sure that everyone is still on the same page about wanting to win, wanting to make those finals because I personally still think we can go all the way,” she said.
“I think this is probably the most important win for the year for us, we definitely need it just for that morale boost.”
Katunga’s Amy Sidebottom will be one to look out for on the weekend, as will wing-defender Grace Tyack and Mel Molloy in goal defence.
“Both teams I don’t think will take the foot off the pedal until the last whistle,” Henderson said.
“I think it’s just going to come down to the smartest team, the one that can control the way that they’re playing, forget about the little errors and mistakes and focus on the task ahead which is obviously getting those four points.”
Katunga’s game against Rennie in Rennie will begin on Saturday at 1.30pm.
In other round 14 fixtures, Strathmerton will welcome Tocumwal while Mathoura will host Picola United.
Katandra will take on Katamatite at home and Waaia will battle with Jerilderie.
The Deni Rovers, Blighty and Tungamah have a week off.
