Rumbalara is yet to win a game in 2022, and Eagles coach Farran Priest will be wary of that fact when the club rolls in to Mercury Sports Complex for the round 17 clash.
“They’ll be coming out red hot,” Priest said.
“A bit of sickness has hit our group, but we might have a couple come back in.
“We’re just looking forward to another good opportunity for us as it should be another good battle.”
United is yet to taste victory since its drought-breaking 15-point triumph in round 12, but the final result will take somewhat of a back seat.
Priest paid tribute to his skipper on the eve of his 100th, a player he says is “United through and through”.
For Cantwell and the Eagles, their affiliation stretches back to the start of his junior career in 2006.
Beginning in the ranks of the under-14s, a side he led to a flag in 2007, Cantwell progressed through juniors before playing his first senior game in 2008.
He departed in 2012 for a four-season stay at Central Highlands club Beaufort before making his return to United in 2018, captain of the club since.
“This is a massive achievement for him and I know he’s excited about it,” Priest said.
“He’s (Echuca United) through and through, I think it’s super important we put on a good show for him.
“Justin’s a unique one; he’s very vocal in his direction and also vocal in trying to get under the skin of his opponents.
“He does it really well, putting his head over the footy, but he’s also super fit. As a player, he’s what every team needs.
“He’s done an exceptional job considering the tricky year we had but he’s stood tall. He’s a ripper and we’re lucky to have him.”
Echuca United and Rumbalara go head-to-head at Mercury Sports Complex on Saturday, August 13.
