Finals will be held in Jerilderie on Saturday, and Berrigan on Sunday.
Football and netball clubs throughout the Southern Riverina will be gearing up for a highly anticipated finals fixture — the first in three years due to COVID cancellations.
All the hard work from the season will come to a head for some teams, who will face an elimination final this weekend.
The following local teams are in finals contention:
Berrigan Football Netball Club: Football — Reserves (7th) and under-14s (5th); Netball — B-grade (8th), C-reserve (8th), under-15s (2nd) and under-13s (8th).
Tocumwal Football Netball Club: Football — Reserves (4th) and under-14s (3rd); Netball — A-grade (8th) and under-17s (6th).
Jerilderie Football Netball Club: Football — Seniors (7th); Netball — A-grade (7th), C-reserve (3rd) and under-15s (6th).
Blighty Football & Netball Club: Football — Under-14s (5th); Netball — Under-17s (8th).
Saturday’s elimination finals will see Berrigan’s under-14s footballers take on Waaia at Jerilderie Recreation Reserve.
The two teams last met in round 10, which saw Berrigan bring home a 69-point win.
On the netball courts in Jerilderie on Saturday will be Tocumwal’s A-grade side, who will take on Katunga.
Berrigan’s B-grade will verse Strathmerton, while the C-reserve Saints will go head-to-head with Tungamah.
Blighty’s only netballers in finals, the under-17s — will take on Katandra.
In Berrigan on Sunday, Jerilderie’s senior outfit take on Katamatite for the second week in a row at Berrigan Recreation Reserve.
The Dees will head into the elimination final with confidence, but the Tigers will be out for Demon blood having gone down to them by only five-points at the weekend. It could be anyone’s game.
Berrigan’s reserves side will go head-to-head with the Deniliquin Rovers, who sit only one place ahead of them in 6th place, and Blighty’s under-14s side will take on Katunga.
On the netball courts at Berrigan on Sunday will be Jerilderie’s under-15s netballers, who will take on Katandra.
Tocumwal’s under-17s will face Strathmerton and Jerilderie’s A-grade side take on Picola United.
The last time the A-grade Dees met Picola in round six, the Dees won by only 4-points.
